GHG emissions would result from <br />direct emissions such as Project generated vehicular traffic, on -site combustion of natural gas, and operation <br />of any landscaping equipment. Operational GHG emissions would also result from indirect sources, such as <br />off -site generation of electrical power, the energy required to convey water to, and wastewater from the <br />Project, the emissions associated with solid waste generated from the Project, and any fugitive refrigerants <br />from air conditioning or refrigerators. <br />Total GHG emissions associated with the Project are summarized in Table GHG-2, Project Greenhouse Gas <br />Emissions, which shows that the Project would generate approximately 1,668 MTCO2e annually from both <br />construction and operations of the Project. As described above, the proposed Project would implement new FLEX-3 land uses that are <br />consistent with the GPU. The GPU EIR describes that new buildings associated with land uses accommodated <br />under the proposed land use plan of the GPU, such as the proposed project, would be built to meet the <br />CALGreen and Building Energy Efficiency Standards in effect at the time when applying for building permits. <br />Thus, the developments pursuant to the GPU, such as the proposed Project would not obstruct implementation <br />of the CARB Scoping Plan or SCAG Regional Transportation Plan. <br />SB 375 required SCAG to adopt a Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS) as part of its Regional <br />Transportation Plan (RTP). SCAG adopted the Connect SoCal Plan in May 2020. The Connect SoCal plan <br />would reduce per capita vehicular travel -related GHG emissions and achieve the GHG reduction per capita <br />targets for the SCAG region by projecting development that is generally consistent with regional -level <br />60 <br />
