Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 6 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />November 1, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of Three Ford Trucks for Public Works Agency’s Maintenance Services <br />Division <br />AGENDA TITLE: <br />Award Purchase Orders to Western Truck Exchange in the Amount of $115,639 for One <br />Ford F-550 Stake Bed Truck; and to National Auto Fleet Group for Two Ford F-250 Trucks <br />in the Amount of $120,000 (Specification No. 22-145) (Non-General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />1. Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Western Truck <br />Exchange for the purchase of a Ford F-550 Stake Bed Truck, in the amount of <br />$105,639, plus a contingency of $10,000, for a total amount not to exceed $115,639, <br />subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />2. Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to National Auto Fleet <br />Group for the purchase of two Ford F-250 Trucks, in the amount of $110,000, plus a <br />contingency of $10,000, for a total amount not to exceed $120,000 subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s Maintenance Services Division is in need of one new stake <br />bed dump truck and two full-size pick-up trucks (vehicles) as additions to the existing fleet <br />of work trucks. These vehicles will be utilized daily to move heavy equipment, tree trunks, <br />heavy debris and rubbish. Additionally, the vehicles will be deployed during the City’s <br />emergency response related to rain, flooding, and Santa Ana windstorm events. <br />The Public Works Agency’s Fleet Services Division (Fleet Services) is responsible for the <br />acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and maintenance <br />equipment. Fleet Services is assisting with the purchase of these vehicles for use by the <br />Maintenance Services Division. Given the current market conditions, the vehicle <br />manufacturer has implemented a deadline of November 6, 2022 in order for customers <br />to receive vehicles during calendar year 2023. <br />Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to utilize purchase contracts for <br />any public agency utilizing a competitive bid process.
