<br />RFP 22-026 Armed & Unarmed Security Guard Services at Various City Facilities Page 16 <br /> <br />passed a criminal background check prior to assignment to any City facility. <br /> <br />(g) Training- Guards are required to have received training in First Aid and CPR, with <br />current certification, as well as training in security and emergency procedures, crowd <br />control, and public relations. First Aid and CPR training will be arranged for the guards <br />by the Contractor at its own expense prior to assignment to any City facility. <br /> <br />(h) Physical/Mental Qualifications- Guards assigned to work under this contract must <br />be mentally alert and capable of exercising good judgment, implementing instructions <br />and assimilating necessary specialized training. Medical examination of guards to <br />assure their physical fitness shall be conducted at the Contractor’s expense, prior to <br />the initial request for clearance and annually thereafter. <br /> <br />(i) Performance- Substandard performance of any kind will not be allowed. The City <br />reserves the right to refuse or reject any assigned guard, who, in the City’s belief, fails <br />to meet the minimum requirements as set forth in this Contract. <br /> <br />(j) Driver’s License- Guards must possess and carry in their possession while on duty <br />a valid California Driver’s License issued by the CA Department of Motor Vehicles. <br /> <br />(k) Probationary Period- New guards assigned to the City contract will be placed on a <br />six-month probationary period during which time their skills will be assessed <br />periodically by both Contractor and City staff. To ensure satisfactory completion of the <br />probationary period, City staff, at his/her discretion, may require a written exam and/or <br />oral review. <br /> <br />4. 24-Hour Communications Capability <br /> <br />Contractor shall maintain a 24-hour communication center. Contractor shall be responsible for <br />the proper operation and security of its pages, radios, cellular phones and chargers. <br /> <br />5. Uniforms and Equipment <br /> <br />Contractor shall provide uniforms to employees who are assigned to work on the contract at no <br />additional expense to those employees or the City. Uniforms shall include winter jackets and rain <br />gear. Uniforms shall bear a patch identifying the Contractor. Uniforms are subject to City <br />approval. Pictures of Contractor uniforms are to accompany Contractors RFP response. <br />Uniforms shall consist of the following items, unless an exception is required, or approved in <br />writing by City: <br />(a) Trouser – Navy or Black; <br />(b) Shirt/blouse –Gray or light blue; <br />(c) Alternate Shirt – Black or White Polo (as requested and approved by City); <br />(d) Belt – Solid Black, basket weave; <br />(e) Tie – Solid Black (as needed); <br />(f) Tie bar – Gold in color (as needed); <br />(g) Socks – Solid Black or Navy Blue; <br />(h) Shoes – Solid Black, leather, Military Type (low laced, plain toed oxfords, with <br />smooth finish); <br />(i) Shoulder patches, as required by California Business and Professions <br />Code 7582.26(f), on both arms of uniform shirt/blouse and jacket; <br />(j) Rain gear (as needed); <br />(k) Name Tags;
