Donation of a police K-9 animal, equipment and supplies, and training <br />April 6, 2021 <br />Page 2 <br />5 <br />7 <br />5 <br />From time to time, community members contribute funding and supplies to enhance <br />Department programs. Recently, Police Volunteer Johanna Scillieri agreed to donate K- <br />9 “Poppy”, and a K-9 training essentials kit to the Santa Ana Police Department’s K-9 <br />Program. Ms. Scillieri’s also volunteered to donate a one-time amount of $5,000 for the <br />Basic Handlers Training Course. The total value of the K-9 animal, equipment and <br />supplies, and $5,000 in training funds donated by Johanna will be $12,715.11, as detailed <br />below: <br /> <br />1 K-9 Poppy $7,000 <br />2 K-9 Training Essentials Kit $715.11 <br /> 3 Basic Handlers Training Course $5,000 <br /> Total $12,715.11 <br />In addition to her generous support of the Santa Ana Police Department’s K-9 Program, <br />Johanna volunteers up to 30 hours per week to support the Investigations Bureau. Ms. <br />Scillieri also contributed resources towards a natural plant beautification project for the <br />Police Administration Building's main entrance. The Santa Ana Police Department <br />appreciates the partnership it has with its volunteers and recommends approval of this <br />resolution. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The appropriation adjustment will recognize $5,000 in Police Miscellaneous <br />Reimbursement revenue (account no. 01114002 57402) and appropriating same to the <br />Vice/Narcotics Training, Transportation and Meetings account (no. 01114470 62120). <br />EXHIBIT(S) <br />1.
