South Main Street Corridor Improvements, Santa Ana, CA <br />Kimley-Horn is assisting the City of Santa Ana in transforming their existing South Main Street into <br />a revitalized corridor. The project involves creating solutions for street beautification, traffic safety, <br />walkability, bike circulation, environmental sustainability, and neighborhood amenities. The project's <br />specific goals include re -branding the South Main Street Business District with a consistent theme to <br />promote the neighborhood for future developments; enhancing streetscape aesthetics with landscape <br />and hardscape features to create a more inviting and pleasant urban area; improving street walkable <br />paths with pedestrian safety, curb ramps, crosswalks, and other ADA features; encouraging the use of <br />alternative transportation such as walking, and public transit; improving accessibility to local businesses <br />by providing on street parking; creating a low impact and sustainable design for improvements while <br />considering environmental issues; and enhancing corridor <br />safety and security by adding high visibility crosswalks and <br />pedestrian level streetlights. <br />Year Completed: Ongoing I Client Name: City of <br />Santa Ana I Contact: Sean Thomas, P.E., Senior Civil <br />Engineer, 714.647.5655 <br />Similarities to the City's Project: <br />V Ped crossing treatment <br />V Business district engagement <br />V Traffic lane reconfiguration <br />./ Complete street design <br />OC Loop — Segment D, F, and H, Orange County, CA <br />a -=a , , v <br />W <br />Kimley-Horn provided alignment analysis and preliminary <br />engineering services for three gap segments (Segments <br />D, F, and H) in the existing OC Loop, a planned 66-mile- <br />long, mostly off -road path, for biking and walking in west, <br />north, and northeast Orange County. Roughly 46-miles <br />(70%) of the OC Loop was already in place using existing <br />off-street (Class 1) facilities such as the Santa Ana River <br />Trail, the Coastal Trail, and the Coyote Creek/San Gabriel <br />..w River Trail. The project, which consisted of three segments, <br />and spanned five different jurisdictions in Orange County, <br />closed the gaps with new multi -use paths (Class 1), shared <br />lanes (Class III), protected bikeways (Class IV), bend -outs, pedestrian actuated crossings, and bicycle <br />signals.
