Alcala, Abigail
From: Arnie Grenfell <
Sent: Tuesday, October 3, 2023 10:20 AM
To: eComment
Subject: Agenda Item #17 - 2230 N. Tustin Ave
Hello,
I'm a nearby Santa Ana homeowner writing to oppose the development of a gas station at the address 2230 N
Tustin Ave for the following reasons:
1. First, building yet another gas station would not meet the needs of the community. There are so many
available gas stations already within a short distance, in more commercialized areas, where they should be.
2. Gas stations have a 24-hour business model and would bring unwanted and possibly (likely) unsafe activity
to the area. The proposed site is in close proximity to homes and apartments and is adjacent to a
preschool/kindergarten, which would be negatively impacted by blocked traffic at the intersection, fuel
emissions, late night noise, attract unhoused population (as with all the existing gas stations nearby), possible
gas spills/leaks, among many other concerns.
3. Lastly, and most important to me personally, I have children enrolled in the adjacent preschool/kindergarten.
Many of my neighbors also currently have or have had children enrolled there. This school serves kids as young
as 2 years old. I worry about the safety and health impact of the aforementioned problems in having a gas
station directly next door. These small children are also Santa Ana residents, and their health and safety at such
a vulnerable time in their lives need to be taken into account in this decision.
The addition of Bad Bakers, Starbucks, etc. on the northeast corner of Santa Clara/Tustin has been great for the
community and we appreciate what has been done there. I also saw the news about the proposed Rove EV
charging station site, and recognized how forward -thinking that decision was. I have faith that our city leaders
have in mind the best interests for Santa Ana residents, and how plans for this one site tie into the future of the
city as a whole.
Thanks for taking the concerns of your residents into consideration.
Warm Regards,
Arnie Grenfell
Santa Ana Resident
