MINUTES: Councilmember Vazquez spoke regarding keeping the status quo and <br />addressing the issue by wards. <br />Mayor Amezcua spoke regarding the inconsistency of addressing this topic by wards <br />and requested additional information with options at the second meeting in May. <br />Discussion ensued regarding ceremonial street naming toppers and a community <br />survey. <br />SECOND SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Mayor Amezcua moved to continue item No. 17 <br />to the May 16, 2023 City Council meeting, seconded by Councilmember Bacerra. <br />The second substitute motion carried, 4-3, by the following roll call vote: <br />AYES: COUNCILMEMBER BACERRA, COUNCILMEMBER <br />PENALOZA, COUNCILMEMBER PHAN, MAYOR AMEZCUA <br />NOES: COUNCILMEMBER HERNANDEZ, COUNCILMEMBER <br />VAZQUEZ, MAYOR PRO TEM LOPEZ <br />ABSTAIN: NONE <br />ABSENT: NONE <br />Status: 4 - 3 -- Pass; Item continued to May 16, 2023. <br />18. Senior Citizens Commission Informational Report <br />Department(s): Parks, Recreation, and Community Services <br />Recommended Action: Accept informational report and provide direction to staff. <br />MINUTES: <br />Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Director Hawk Scott gave a presentation <br />regarding the Senior Citizens Commission Informational Report and proposed options. <br />Councilmember Vazquez asked for costs associated with the Parks, Recreation, and <br />Community Services Commission. <br />Director Scott stated the cost per meeting is $50. <br />City Manager Kristine Ridge spoke regarding staffing costs. <br />Councilmember Penaloza spoke in support of staffs recommendation to add two more <br />seats to the existing to the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission <br />and questioned who appoints the additional members. <br />Director Scott stated the Mayor and the Mayor Pro Tern would appoint the additional <br />members. <br />Councilmember Penaloza expressed concern regarding the terms of office for the two <br />new members. <br />CITY COUNCIL 15 03/07/2023 <br />
