Students are expected to attend all classes, practicum sessions, and presentations. <br />Tardiness disrupts the learning process and is therefore strongly discouraged. A <br />student is considered tardy if he or she is not signed -in by ten (10) past the official <br />start time of the class. Students with three (3) late arrivals without notification will <br />receive one (1) unexcused absence. An absence will be excused if. there is a <br />doctor notice, death in your immediate family, or other reasons approved by the <br />program director. All other absences with be considered unexcused. <br />No Show Policy <br />Any student reported as a "no-show" by an instructor will be administratively <br />removed from that class and will not be eligible for reinstatement in the current <br />semester. "No-shows" or withdrawals can jeopardize current seat in class. <br />If you are sick or have a family emergency, please text or call (687-362-8994) <br />UYOA to alert the program director of your absence. Failure to contact the <br />program about an absence will be recorded. Students with three (3) or more <br />unexcused absences will be written up, with additional action possible. All travel <br />requests must be submitted in writing at least two -weeks prior to your travel. Your <br />written travel request must be submitted to the program director. Only one (1) <br />leave -of -absence (one month but no longer than two months) will be granted. <br />When the student return from their approved leave they will be offered academic <br />support to make up any missed assignments that are a result of their absence. In <br />the case of a leave beyond two months, the student will be asked to withdraw from <br />the program. <br />Student Conduct <br />At United Youth of America, learning and instruction are our number one priority. <br />It is expected that each student will have this goal for themselves. Any student that <br />is disruptive or violates the program's policies and procedures is subject <br />disciplinary action that may include expulsion. <br />Drug & Alcohol <br />United Youth of America is committed to maintaining a drug -free work -place and <br />academic environment as stated in the Federal Drug -Free School and Communities <br />Act of 1989 and the Drug -Free Workplace Act of 1988.
