NS-XXXX entitled AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTION 2-325 <br />OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE THAT <br />COMPENSATION FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS SHALL BE <br />SET BY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />Some local governments, like the City of Santa Ana, have boards and commissions. <br />Boards and commissions are advisory groups that study specific policy areas and report <br />to the City Council about the work they do when they meet together. This helps the City <br />Council deliberate on common municipal issues that affect the city. The City has 10 <br />boards/commissions/committees. To increase flexibility, respond to economic <br />conditions, and centralize the compensation provisions relating to City boards and <br />commissions into one single policy document, staff recommends that the Santa Ana <br />Municipal Code be amended to provide for setting compensation for City Boards and <br />Commissions by City Council resolution.
