Compensation for Members of City Boards and Commissions <br />November 21, 2023 <br />Page 2 <br />3 <br />8 <br />9 <br />1 <br />other initiatives that further the growth and sustainability of the arts and culture in Santa <br />Ana. <br />Community Development Commission <br />The Community Development Commission assists in soliciting resident participation <br />related to community development initiatives, programs and uses of Housing and Urban <br />Development funds throughout the City. <br />Environmental and Transportation Advisory Commission <br />The Environmental and Transportation Advisory Commission reviews and provides <br />recommendations with regard to the removal, planting, replanting, or disposition of <br />public trees. <br />Historic Resources Commission <br />The Historic Resources Commission provides recommendations regarding places of <br />historical architectural significance in order to rehabilitate and preserve historic heritage. <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission advises in matters pertaining to the acquisition, <br />capital improvements, rehabilitation, and maintenance of parks and recreational, <br />cultural, zoo, and other facilities. <br />Personnel Board <br />The Personnel Board hears appeals related to the disciplinary suspension, demotion, or <br />dismissal of any officer or employee having permanent status in the civil service. <br />Planning Commission <br />The Planning Commission serves as an advisory body on matters related to zoning and <br />the General Plan. <br />Police Oversight Commission <br />The Police Oversight Commission acts through the Independent Oversight Director to <br />provide the Chief of Police, City Manager, and City Council independent investigations, <br />analysis, and recommendations on police practices, police misconduct, officer-involved <br />shootings, and other serious uses of force to improve transparency, increase <br />accountability, and improve positive police-community relations. <br />Rental Housing Board <br />The Rental Housing Board conducts hearings on petitions, applications, and appeals of <br />hearings determined by a hearing officer submitted by landlords or tenants, promulgates <br />and implements policies and procedures for the administration and enforcement of the <br />Rent Stabilization and Just Cause Eviction Ordinance, makes such studies, surveys, <br />and investigations, conducts such hearings, and obtains such information as is <br />necessary to carry out its powers and duties, and reviews and assesses yearly that
