attention away from matters over which it exercises absolutely no authority to pressing local
issues will better serve the needs and interests of our community.
You are at one of those pivotal moments in your tenure, providing an opportunity to represent
the diverse voices within your community —all of your community. We believe that resolutions
addressing conflicts outside the jurisdiction of the City, especially those with a potential for
divisive discourse, will not serve the best interests of our local community.
It's crucial to consider the recent Oakland City Council meeting as a cautionary tale, where
discussions surrounding a similar resolution deteriorated into members of the public praising
Hamas and claiming that the massacre of Jews is a "fabricated narrative" and that "many of
those killed on October 7, including children, were killed by the IDF. We fear that the proposed
resolution will, likewise, lead to inflammatory rhetoric and a divisive atmosphere.
We appreciate your dedication to serving the residents of Santa Ana and trust that you will
carefully consider our perspective in this matter. We remain hopeful that, together, we car
continue to make Santa Ana a harmonious and vibrant community.
Should you wish to discuss this letter's plea or should you have any questions, we remain
available to you. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jf IeK:a
FPNA President
cc: Mayor of Santa Ana
City Councilmembers
City Manager
FPNA Board of Directors
Floral Park Neighbors
