The war could stop in five minutes: if Hamas, a fundamentalist organization that took control of Gaza in a coup d'etat, would lay <br />down its weapons, its leaders would receive safe passage, the PA would take over the Gaza Strip with international assurances, <br />and all hostages would be freed. A ceasefire would perpetuate the status quo, allowing Hamas to continue to control and <br />terrorize Gaza.
