Araiza, Fatima
From:
Sent: Tuesday, December 05, 2023 5:46 PM
To: eComment
Subject: In regards to Palestine Solidarity and Ceasefire
Good afternoon,
I hope this email finds you well. There has been a lot of discourse and debate over what's going on overseas and the
atrocities being committed against innocent human lives. I understand that Israel is an ally of the US and I have done a lot
of research on the history of this conflict. At this point we are long past the sentiment of who was there first, who belongs
where, who did what. The tally needs to be zeroed out and peace needs to be achieved for the sake of the tens of
thousands of innocent lives being lost. Any terrorist attack SHOULD be condemned, but turning a nose up at one while
eagerly turning a blind eye to another is morally reprehensible. As the saying goes an eye for an eye and the world goes
blind. That phrase has taken a whole new meaning for me during these past few months, seeing the vicious response by
Israel to the events that happened on October 7th. I understand the fear of the people and their Government... that's
something many experienced here when 9/11 happened. However you cannot like fear and hatred dictate policy or how
innocent civilians are being treated. This is a tactical response to what is my understanding the 3rd strongest militia in that
area (Hamas), but just a brutal disregard for human life. Press are being fired upon, innocent men, women and children
are being fired upon and so many in power seem to not care. It's disgusting and makes me sick to the pit of my stomach.
Even worse so, knowing that our tax money is quite possibly being used to help fund these vicious attacks in response to
the events of October 7th.
This isn't about anti-Semitism, this isn't about our ally's and whatever agenda they or our Government might have, this is
quite literally about the severe loss of life that many seem to be perfectly ok with. There is no justification for bombing a
hospital or neighborhood, nor is there any justification for saying that there are no innocent civilians (Source: 'No Innocent
Civilians in Gaza', Israel President Says as Northern Gaza Struggles to Flee Israeli Bombs) this is quite literally one of the
worst things I've had to see in my entire life and it's being televised across social media on the daily. It HAS to stop, there
is no other way to put it. These people deserve to live and be treated fairly and without brutality. I just don't know how else
to say it and I can't believe there's actual discourse over this matter. I literally just want people to live, that's it. Can we all
agree upon that?
- Ben Yehdigo
