Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 15 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />December 19, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of Two Chevrolet Trucks for the Public Works Agency <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award a Purchase Order to Guaranty Chevrolet Motors, Inc. in Santa Ana for Two <br />Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trucks, in an Amount Not to Exceed $101,641 (Specification <br />No. 23-178) (Non-General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Guaranty Chevrolet <br />Motors, Inc. for two 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Standard Cab trucks in the amount <br />of $96,641, plus a contingency amount of $5,000, for a total amount not to exceed <br />$101,641, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s Parks, Fleet, and Facilities Division is responsible for the <br />acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and maintenance <br />equipment. The Fleet Services section maintains an equipment replacement schedule <br />and works with various departments to routinely replace vehicles and equipment that <br />have surpassed their useful life cycle. <br />The Public Works Agency is required to enforce compliance of Senate Bill 1383 and has <br />hired three Solid Waste Enforcement officers to do so. Two of these officers need <br />vehicles to perform daily operations that include the issuance of citations to non- <br />compliant accounts as noted in the City’s ordinance. <br />On October 18, 2022, the City Council authorized a one-time purchase and payment of <br />purchase order to National Auto Fleet Group for the purchase of two Ford F-150 Trucks <br />in the amount of $78,872, plus a contingency of $5,000, for a total amount no to exceed <br />$83,872. The City was recently made aware that Ford Manufacturing would no longer <br />be able to produce the trucks ordered by National Auto Fleet Group and formally <br />canceled the purchase order on November 20, 2023. <br /> <br />Santa Ana Ordinance No. NS-3041 authorizes the City to utilize purchase contracts for
