Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 13 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />January 16, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Approve Agreement for Integrated Pest Management and Pest Control Services <br />for City Parks and Facilities <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Approve an Agreement with RPW Services, Inc. for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) <br />and Pest Control Services at City Parks and Facilities in an Amount Not to Exceed <br />$3,966,300 (RFP No. 23-153) (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with RPW Services, Inc. for <br />integrated pest management and pest control services in an annual amount not -to - <br />exceed $661,050, plus an annual contingency of $132,210, for a total amount not -to - <br />exceed $3,966,300 for a three-year term beginning on February 1, 2024 and expiring <br />January 31, 2027 with provisions for two, one-year extensions (Agreement No. A-2024- <br />XXX). <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: Yes <br />DISCUSSION <br />As of July 1, 2022, park maintenance functions have transferred from the Parks, <br />Recreation, and Community Services Agency (PRCSA) to the Public Works Agency <br />(PWA). PWA's Parks, Fleet, and Facilities Division provides landscape maintenance <br />services at city parks and facilities. The city contracts for continuous Integrated Pest <br />Management (IPM) and pest control services at city parks and facilities. IPM is a <br />systematic approach for turf and open spaces management, reducing weeds and pests <br />while promoting clean, healthy, and safe open spaces. The current agreement is <br />scheduled to expire on January 31, 2024, and does not have any remaining renewal <br />options. <br />The Public Works Agency issued Request for Proposal (RFP No. 23-153) on November <br />16, 2023, inviting qualified IPM and pest control service firms with relevant experience <br />to submit their proposals to the City through PlanetBids. The RFP was advertised on the <br />City's online bid management and publication system.
