I attend school full time and also volunteer to raise awareness of all forms of Stalking. Part of raising Stalking Awareness includes examining the psychopathy of Stalking. Since I am not a licensed clinician, I have attached the following article for your reference. The article and its subject matter are relevant because Orange County Housing Commissioner, James Hoang Mai was in the news for much of 2022 after it was revealed he bragged of committing a hate crime. He claims he went to a Hindu owned restaurant and, following a billing dispute with the proprietor he vandalized the restaurant. He stated he took a bucket of cow blood and went to a butcher to get the head of a dead cow. He then returned to the restaurant, and threw it outside the entrance in retaliation for being overcharged. He also claimed it resulted in his getting a refund. In the Hindu religion, the cow is venerated as sacred. After the Indian -born lady, who is not even Hindu exposed the story; she says people who self -identified as being affiliated with Commissioner James Mai began stalking her on the internet. She was not able to prove he himself did so, but a look at the screenshots she provided makes it obvious he was enlisting other people to do so. The correct term for this is called "Stalking by Proxy". Commissioner Mai also has a tendency to talk about all the good works he supposedly does in the Community. While I do not dispute that he may be involved in some charitable activity, I want to point out that he seems to believe he should get a free pass for all the disgusting acts he committed, or caused other persons to commit on his behalf. I would have hoped the OC Housing Commissioners and Housing Authority Staff would reject James Mai's invitation to normalize his conduct, but that sadly seems to not be the case. I agree James Mai does have the appearance of a model citizen, but a review of the totality of his actions, including his conduct on that very Commission suggests he may well be a psychopath. That's because he engages in a significant amount of "Virtue -Signaling". Since I am not a credentialed psychologist, I am asking the Continuum of Care Board and staff employees please read this article as it gives a very good idea of what the dynamics are of people who engage in this type of behavior. I was also made aware Commissioner Mai is engaged in fraudulently opening and closing nonprofits, and failing to register them with the proper authorities. In the space of just 2 years, he has formed 5 different nonprofits and changed the names of some of them several times. It's my understanding a separate public comment will be submitted regarding this matter by someone else, along with proof of his Charity Fraud. According to James Mai's own social media, he is engaging in nonprofit activities with the Samueli Foundation, Waymakers OC, Human Options and Crime Survivors. The individual people he personally claims as his "partners" are Marisela Rios Faust from Human Options, Kelsey Rae Morgan from EverFree, (funded by Samueli Foundation) and Patricia Wenskunas from Crime Survivors. I ask that staff do the right thing and forward all letters received in December 2023 and January 2024 to the CoC Committee for this month's meeting.
