CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />Schedule. The DR shall verify all seed quantities and types specified in the contract before <br />any applications. The process for renovation-overseeding shall be as follows: <br />7. Renovation downtime schedules effectively take the Sports Turf area out of service for <br />several weeks (the schedule to be determined by the CR for a duration of 10 weeks). The <br />goal of this period is to restore worn and damaged turf. This renovation procedure includes <br />core aerification, fertilization, seeding, and grade restoration. These procedures shall be <br />included in the cost proposal. A typical renovation includes: <br />8. The contractor shall install a 6' high temporary construction fence with stands around the <br />sport/priority turf areas prior to commencing renovation-overseeding work. Note, the fence <br />shall be installed on the perimeter of the sport/priority turf to be renovated-overseeded in <br />accordance with the park map depicting the sport/priority turf areas. Perimeter fencing shall <br />be placed at the direction of the CR to avoid sprinkler damage and provide 100 percent <br />water coverage. See aerial maps of sports field locations. <br />9. Turf shall be mowed down to '/4"-1/2 ", or determined by CR. All turf clippings shall be <br />removed. <br />10. Turf shall be aerated using the Kubota L5060 tractor equipped with turf type tires AerWay <br />aeration equipment utilizing the Toro Pro Core 646 (or Equal). The contractor shall make <br />two passes in different directions per the DRs direction. <br />11. Turf shall then be vertical using the Kubota L5060 tractor equipped with turf -type tires and <br />the Trilo VCU 200 Verticut implement. Following verticutting all turf clippings shall be <br />removed. <br />12. The contractor shall coordinate with the CR to confirm that all irrigation has been tested <br />and restored to original design specifications before overseeding. <br />13. Immediately after overseeding and topping, the Contractor shall drag the turf pushing the <br />seed underneath the existing turf. <br />14. Once the CR verifies the irrigation system is working efficiently, the Contractor shall <br />overseed the turf using a) Stover Seed Company's Grand Slam FS in the fall/winter at a <br />rate of 65 pounds per acre; and, b) Stover Seed Company's Pro Sportsfield Supreme in the <br />spring/summer at a rate of 65 pounds per acre. The contractor shall overseed all turf using <br />the Kubota L5060 tractor equipped with turf -type tires and the Tycrop TD-460 QuickPass <br />top -dresser. <br />15. Immediately after overseeding the Contractor shall apply %4" minus STA-approved compost <br />topper from R&S Soils to all turf using the Kubota L5060 tractor equipped with turf -type tires <br />and the Tycrop TD-460 QuickPass top -dresser. <br />16. Immediately following applying topper the Contractor shall coordinate with the Irrigation <br />Consultant to program irrigation controllers to irrigate the seeded areas. The irrigation <br />programs shall be set to maximize the germination of seed. Once the renovation process <br />is complete, the Irrigation Consultant shall retake control of the irrigation programming. <br />17. Plugs/cores shall be removed, or broken up (drag mat, mower) and spread over the Turf <br />area being treated, at the time of aeration, to the satisfaction of the CR. <br />18. Flags identifying irrigation shall be removed by Contractor immediately after aerification. <br />19. City -supplied signs indicating a field renovation is in progress shall be posted. <br />20. The contractor shall secure all the seed materials at the beginning of the season in <br />RFP 23-151 Landscape Maintenance Services Page 39 of 135 <br />
