Often, the streetlight and traffic signal
poles are damaged or compromised due to traffic collisions, electrical surges,
vandalism, rust, or normal weather damage. Once the pole is compromised, the pole
and appurtenances must be replaced immediately to minimize traffic delays and
maintain the safety of the public. Generally, obtaining replacement poles requires a
seven to ten-month advance order due to limited availability, custom pole types, and
supply chain issues. To expedite the streetlight pole replacement, staff recommends the
pre-purchasing of poles and associated materials to have them readily available for
emergencies and immediate installation.
