Family Housing <br />D. Encourage the development of larger <br />rental and ownership units for families, <br />including lower and moderate-income <br />families, through the selection criteria <br />for the RFP for Affordable Housing <br />Development (see program 2) that is <br />issued once a year. The objective is to <br />finance the development of at least one <br />multifamily affordable housing project <br />per year. <br />Ongoing <br />In 2023, the development of projects with larger rental units are currently under <br />construction in Santa Ana and due for completion in 2024. The Crossroads at <br />Washington project will have 85 new affordable units and 1 manager’s unit, with <br />42 three- and four-bedroom units for large families, and 43 one- and two- <br />bedroom affordable units for persons experiencing homelessness. 100% of the <br />units will be for extremely low- income households at 30% Area Median Income. <br />The 6 Habitat (washington) units will have approximately 1,430 sq. ft. of interior <br />living space, with 3-bedrooms and 2.5-bathrooms, a private yard (431 sq. ft.), and <br />a private two-car garage with direct access to each unit (residents will be <br />required to park vehicles in the garages and not use garages only for storage). <br />42. Review and update regulations <br />pertaining to day/childcare as part of the <br />Zoning Code Update (see program 18) to <br />ensure consistency with state laws and <br />consider incentives for co-locating <br />childcare facilities in affordable housing <br />projects or other alternatives if found to <br />be infeasible. <br />12/1/2023 <br />The RFP for the Comprehensive Zoning Code Update was released and <br />proposals were due to the City on April 13, 2023. The City formally entered an <br />agreement with a consultant on October 17, 2023 to start the Zoning Code <br />Update. Through the Zoning Code Update, the City will review and update <br />regulations pertaining to day/childcare facilities. <br />42. Child Care Options <br />B. Continue funding organizations that <br />help address and meet the supportive <br />service needs of Santa Ana’s children. <br />7/1/2022 <br />In CY 2023, agreements for CDBG Public Service funds were extended for <br />another year with multiple organizations that help address and meet the <br />supportive service needs of Santa Ana’s children. <br />42. Child Care Options <br />C. Issue a CDBG public service <br />application every two years to eligible <br />nonprofit organizations to provide <br />public service programs to Santa Ana <br />residents that include services for <br />children and youth. <br />7/1/2022 <br />The release of the CDBG Public Service application for the FY 2022-2024 service <br />year marked a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to support our <br />community's vital non-profit organizations. Following a thorough review <br />process, 20 eligible non-profit organizations for FY 2022 were successfully <br />awarded funds providing 23 public service programs. This investment <br />underscores our commitment to fostering partnerships and empowering <br />organizations that play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of our <br />residents. <br />B-126
