Continue working with <br />regional agencies, including the Orange <br />County Flood Control District, to identify <br />opportunities to enhance the natural <br />qualities of Santiago Creek to protect <br />habitat and reintroduce native plants <br />and animals. <br />PRCSA 2022 & <br />ongoing <br />Received additional grant funding of <br />$2.8 million from the State Coastal <br />Conservancy for a habitat conservation <br />project involving 4.5 acres of the <br />eastside of Santiago Park. <br />Conservation 2.3 No Channel improvement plans. Partner <br />with the County of Orange to explore <br />best practices in greenbelt and channel <br />improvement plans for the Santa Ana <br />River and Santiago Creek to preserve <br />natural vegetation. <br />PRCSA/PWA 2022 In partnership with the Orange County <br />Flood Control District, the Santa Ana <br />Greenways Bike Trail, which runs along <br />a County Flood Control channel, is <br />currently under construction after years <br />of planning. <br />Conservation 2.4 No Preservation of natural and historic <br />resources. Collaborate with local <br />indigenous tribes and other stakeholders <br />to identify and evaluate potential <br />incentives in the municipal code to <br />encourage protection and enhancement <br />of natural and historic resources. <br />PBA Ongoing PBA continues to consult with local <br />indigenous tribes on development <br />projects subject to CEQA or that require <br />specific plan or General Plan <br />amendments. <br />Conservation 2.5 No Programming. Incorporate the city’s <br />natural resources into City plans and <br />recreational programming to facilitate <br />PRCSA 2021 & <br />ongoing <br />The Santa Ana Zoo will be operating a <br />rebranded Nature Center, now <br />EcoCenter at Santiago Park.
