"1 CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> 7. Mowing shall be performed at the speed the mower's manufacturer specifies to maximize <br /> the quality of the cut. The emphasis shall be on quality mowing vs. speed and unprofessional <br /> patterns. <br /> 8. Mulching mowers shall be used to mow General Turf grass areas. Recycling blades and/or <br /> recycling decks shall be used in all areas where grass clippings will not be picked up. <br /> 9. Excessive clipping debris, as determined by the CR, shall be removed and disposed of <br /> offsite at the Contractor's expense. <br /> 10. String trimmers shall not be used for mowing turf. <br /> 11. Turf shall be mechanically trimmed with a grounded blade edger at the same time as mowing <br /> during the seasonal mowing cycle (twice per month in winter, once per week in summer). <br /> 12. The areas requiring edging shall include all hardscapes adjacent to turf, including <br /> sidewalks, curbing, planters, grave markers, historical plaques and markers, and other <br /> concrete entities, asphalt, concrete, paved areas, and DG. <br /> 13. All edging shall be done in a way as to not damage any hardscape entities. <br /> 14. Other fixtures such as but not limited to valve boxes, utility boxes, cleanouts, drains, signs <br /> posts, poles, benches,tables, and building foundations can be edged with the use of string <br /> trimmers, once an edging pattern has been properly <br /> established using an edger or sharpened shovel. Should the edged area begin to deform, <br /> CR shall direct the Contractor to repeat the detail process. <br /> 15. Property damaged by string trimmers or mowers shall be replaced/repaired immediately. <br /> 16. Sidewalks and other hard surfaces shall be properly cleaned after each edging, including <br /> grass stains or marks from the mowing process. <br /> 17. Trimming of grass around trees or planter beds in the turf area (12 to 24-inch distance from <br /> the object) shall be performed during the seasonal mowing cycle in such a manner as to <br /> avoid damage to the plants. <br /> a. Chemical edging and trim pattern establishment using a blade edger shall be <br /> completed when grass encroachment is within six (6) inches of the trunk or <br /> planter bed. <br /> 18. Any mechanical damage to tree trunks which is considered Contractor neglect shall result <br /> in a replacement planting, at the discretion of the CR. <br /> 19. Refurbishment of damaged turf due to Contractor negligence, including poor irrigation <br /> management, irregular turf evaluation intervals, and/or Contractor error shall be completed <br /> within seven (7) days of discovery and notation. <br /> 20. Turf shall be maintained within 6-12 inches of all appurtenances (e.g. walls, fences, <br /> transformers, etc.) <br /> 21. Detail lines shall be made straight and shall be maintained straight. <br /> 22. The contractor shall fill all divots, depressions, and uneven areas with sand, as directed by <br /> the CR. <br /> 23. The City reserves the right to require the Contractor to apply plant dye on specified plant <br /> material within 24 hours of notification to the landscape that has been stressed due to the <br /> Contractor's neglect.
