COMMENTS <br /> <br />· Asked the Executive Director, Public Works to give an update on the <br /> proposed rate increases by the Orange County Sanitation District. Mr. <br /> Ross noted that there would be a public hearing on this matter at the <br /> District on May 28, 2003. Councilmember Christy encouraged <br /> residents to attend this meeting <br /> <br />Councilmember Alvarez: <br />· Congratulated El Sol Charter school and all the involved parents on the <br /> successful fundraiser held on May 2, 2003 <br />· Noted that there were increased incidents of accidental drownings in <br /> the City and cautioned parents to protect their children and to be <br /> particularly diligent in keeping watch of children near swimming pools <br />· Reminded residents that the Mother's Day Mariachi Festival would be <br /> held on May 10, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Santa Ana <br /> Stadium and thanked Rip Ribble and Gerardo Mouet for all their efforts <br /> in coordinating activities and obtaining sponsors for this event <br /> <br />Mayor Pre Tern Franklin: <br />· Thanked the City of Westminster for the wonderful Vietnam War <br /> Memorial constructed in that City <br />· Noted that he had been on a recent ride-along and had noticed that <br /> there seemed to be an increase of cruising on Bristol Street and <br /> thanked the Police Department for their prompt efforts in addressing this <br /> critical issue <br />· Noted that the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) had <br /> provided a Mobile Safety House at the recent Diabetes Information Fair <br /> and provided valuable tips on safety for parents and kids; he further <br /> noted that the mobile unit was available for other events and the City <br /> should work with CHOC to bring it to the City for other events <br />· Asked the City Manager to recommend the best way for the City <br /> Council to voice its opposition to the 57 freeway extension <br /> <br />Mayor Pulido: <br />· Asked staff to prepare a special presentation to be given to Vladimir <br /> Cora <br />· Noted that the Executive Director of the British Museum was in Santa <br /> Ana to sign an agreement with the Bowers Museum and that this <br /> partnership will result in some very exciting exhibits which will come to <br /> the city <br /> <br /> ADJOURNMENT - 9:13 P.M. - To May 19, 2003 at 5,:30 p.m. to the Police Chief's <br /> Conference Room, 60 Civic Center Plaza, 4th Floor, Santa Ana, <br />lifornia <br /> <br /> Patricia E.
