COMMENTS 90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS Alma Ramirez addressed Council regarding concerns about the City of Anaheim Pat McGuigan addressed the Council and raised questions relative to the metered water rates in the proposed budget Ben Grabiel addressed the Council relative to concerns about the proposed assessment district 90.B. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilmember Gamia: · Asked staff to review and analyze Assembly Bill 789 and recommend the appropriate method for the City Council to record a position on this issue · Noted that he attended a South Santa Ana Merchants Association Meeting where concern was voiced about the practice some insurance companies use in determining insurance premium rates; he asked staff to look at crime data for Santa Ana and share this information with the insurance companies · Asked staff to review the feasibility of "one-way" on portions of Main and Broadway street Councilmember Alvarez · Asked the City Council to adjourn in memory of Carmen Calderon, a former employee of the Clerk of the Council Office who passed away at the age of twenty-two of leukemia Councilmember Bist · Noted that she and Councilmember Garcia met with members of the Youth Commission who requested that they be more involved in City events and issues Councilmember Christy: · Congratulated the International Dance Academy and Rosa Garcia for a very successful event in which many cultures were brought together Councilmember Solorio: · Asked staff to review the Sister City Program and recommend ways to develop less formal relationships with Cities that were formerly in this program · Congratulated the Community Development Agency on a very successful Celebrate Santa Aha event CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 196 MAY 19, 2003
