'A carport open on two or more sides need not have a fire sepa- ration between the carport and the dwelling. Doors between a dwel- ling and a carport shall be self-closing. '(b) Breezeway. A breezeway or covering of single roof con- struction with no concealed or enclosed space shall be permitted between a dwellin~ and a private garage if such buildings are at least five feet apart, provided that a passageway not less than three feet in width be permanently maintained along both sides of the dwelling, and such private garage shall then be deemed to be a detached structure.'
