ORDINANCE NO. NS-687 OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY ASCERTAINED <br />TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY, <br />AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS FALLING DUE, <br />FOR THE CURRENT YEAR 1963-1964, FIXING THE RATE OF <br />TAXATION FOR SAID CURRENT YEAR, AND DESIGNATING <br />THE NUMBER OF CENTS ON EACH $100.00 FOR THE <br />VARIOUS FUNDS OF SAID CITY AND HEREBY LEVIED ON <br />THE WHOLE OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY OF SAID CITY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, heretofore, on the 28th day of December, 1914, the <br />City of Santa Ana did elect to avail itself of the provisions of <br />State law providing that assessment of property and collection of <br />taxes might be done for cities by the county in which the cities <br />were located; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 600 of the Charter <br />of the City of Santa Ana, the county system of assessment and tax <br />collection shall continue to be used unless otherwise provided by <br />Ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Auditor of the County of Orange filed his state- <br />ment in writing with the City of Santa Ana, showing the total value <br />of all property within the corporate limits for the fiscal year <br />1963-1964 as equalized and collected by the Board of Supervisors of <br />Orange County, and fixed the sum as shown by the assessment rolls <br />for said year at $188,302,570.00, exclusive of operative property <br />belonging to public utilities, and showing the total value of all <br />property belonging to public utilities and used as operative property <br />within the corporate limits of said City for said fiscal year as <br />tentatively determined by the Board of Equalization of the State of <br />California to be $19,592,000.00, which said amounts make a total <br />assessed valuation for tax purposes within the City of Santa Ana of <br />the sum of $207,894,570.00. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. That the total valuation of the taxable property <br />of the City of Santa Ana of $207,894,570.00 shall be used as a basis <br />for the levy of the taxes of said City at the same time and in the <br />same manner in which County of Orange levies are made and collected. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. The City Council does hereby levy a tax for the <br />fiscal year beginning July 1, 1963, and ending June 30, 1964, for the <br />purpose of carrying on the various departments, to pay the bonded <br />indebtedness and interest, to pay the amounts due the State Employees' <br />Retirement System, to maintain the library, to operate the recreation <br />and parks program, and fixes the rate thereof at $1.36 on each <br />$100.00 of assessed value of all property within the City of Santa <br />Ana, except as to payment on bonded indebtedness, which tax hereby <br />levied shall not apply to those areas expressly excluded hereinbelow, <br />and apportions said amount among the various funds and purposes as <br />follows, to wit: <br /> <br /> For the General Fund, $1.00 on each $100.00 of the taxable <br />property in said City; <br /> <br /> For the Library Fund, $.185 on each $100.00 of the taxable <br />property in said City; <br /> <br /> For the Recreation and Park Fund, $.075 on each $100.00 of <br />the taxable property in said City; <br /> <br /> For bonded indebtedness as next hereinbelow set out $.100 on <br />each $100.00 of the taxable property in the special areas as next <br />hereinbelow set out. <br /> <br /> <br />
