DWELLING - Any building used exclusively as a residence which <br />contains not more than two dwelling units and not more than five <br />guest rooms, the occupancy of which does not fall within the <br />classification of Group D occupancy. <br /> DWELLING UNIT - A group of two or more rooms, one of which is <br />a kitchen, designed for occupancy by one family for living and <br />sleeping purposes. <br /> EVAPORATIVE COOLER - A device used for reducing the sensible <br />heat of air for comfort cooling, by the process of evaporation <br />of water into an air stream. <br /> EVAPORATIVE COOLING SYSTEM - All of that equipment intended <br />or installed for the purpose of comfort cooling by an evaporative <br />cooler, from which the conditioned air is distributed through <br />ducts or plenums to the conditioned area. <br /> GRAVITY H~ATING SYSTEM - Any comfort heating system consisting <br />of a gravity-type warm air furnace together with all air ducts <br />or pipes and accessory apparatus installed in connection <br />therewith. <br /> HOOD - Any air intake device connected to a mechanical exhaust <br />system for the collection of flammable vapors, corrosive vapors, <br />noxious gases, cc~bustible dust, or vapors from commercial food <br />preparation equipment. <br /> Exception: 1) hoods over coffee urns, steam tables, etc., <br />2) hoods in dwellings or apartments; 3) hoods having a face area <br />of less than 200 square inches. <br /> <br /> HOOD - COMMERCIAL COOKING - Any air intake device connected <br />to a mechanical exhaust system for the collection of cooking <br />odors, smoke, steam, or vapors from commercial food preparation <br />equipment. <br /> <br /> HOOD - GREASE - Any commercial cooking hood which is at or <br />over equipment that produces, or may produce, grease vapors. <br /> INCOMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL - Any material having an ignition <br />temperature higher than 1,000 degrees F. <br /> <br /> INDUSTRIAL HEATING EQUIPMENT - Any appliance, device or <br />equipment used, or intended to be used, in an industrial, manu- <br />facturing, or commercial occupancy for applying heat to any <br />material being processed, but shall not include hot water heater~ <br />boilers or portable equipment used by artisans in pursuit of a <br />trade. <br /> INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING EQUIPMENT - Any equipment, system, <br />appliance or device used or intended to be used, in an industrial <br />manufacturing, or commercial occupancy for the handling or <br />processing of hazardous materials. <br /> INSANITARY LOCATION ~ Any area, space or room where the air <br />is unfit or undesirable for circulation to occupied parts of a <br />building. <br /> LISTED OR LISTING - The term "listed" or "listing" refers to <br />equipment which is shown in a list published by a nationally <br />recognized testing agency such as the American Gas Association, <br />Inc. Laboratories and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., qualified <br />and equipped for experimental testing and maintaining an <br />adequate periodic inspection of current productions and whose <br />listing states that the equipment complies with nationally <br />recognized safety standards. <br /> OIL - A fuel in liquid form at a temperature of 60 degrees F. <br />and at atmospheric pressure. <br /> PORTABLE COMFORT COOLING UNIT - A self-contained refrigera- <br />ting system, not over three horsepower rating, which has been <br />factory-assembled and tested, installed without conditioned air <br />ducts and without connecting any refrigerant-containing parts. <br /> Note: This definition shall not include an absorption unit. <br /> <br />-25- <br /> <br /> <br />
