PORTABLE HEATING APPLIANCE - Any approved unvented air <br />heating appliance designed for human comfort which is not <br />secured or attached to a building by any means other than by <br />fuel piping or electrical wiring. <br /> <br /> READILY ACCESSIBLE - Capable of being reached safely and <br />quickly for operation, repair, or inspection without requiring <br />those to whom ready access is requisite to climb over, or <br />remove obstacles, or to resort to the use of a portable ladder, <br />etc. <br /> <br /> RESIDENTIAL BUILDING - A building or portion thereof de- <br />signed or used for human habitation. <br /> <br /> RISER HEAT PIPE - AnT duct which extends at an angle of more <br />than 45 degrees from the horizontal. <br /> Exception: This definition shall not include any boot <br /> connection. <br /> SMOKE PIPE - A pipe or passageway, constructed of iron or <br />steel, or of other material acceptable to the Department, which <br />connects a fuel combustion chamber with a chimney. <br /> Note: This definition shall not include a gas vent connector. <br /> <br /> VENT COLLAR - The outlet opening of an appliance provided for <br />connection of the vent system. <br /> <br /> VENTED WALL FURNACE - A self-contained, vented comfort heating <br />appliance designed for incorporation in, or permanent attachment <br />to a wall, floor, ceiling or partition, and arranged to furnish <br />heated air by gravity or by a fan directly into the space to be <br />heated. <br /> Note: This definition shall not include floor furnaces, unit <br />heaters and room heaters. <br /> <br /> WARM AIR FURNACE - A comfort heating appliance designed or <br />arranged to discharge heated air through any duct or ducts. <br /> Note: This definition shall not include a unit heater. <br /> <br /> WARM AIR HEATING CONTRACTOR - Any person holding a valid <br />State Contractor's License C-20 or SC-20. <br /> <br /> WELDED JOINT OR SEAM - Any joint or seam obtained by the <br />joining of metal parts in the plastic or molten state. <br /> <br />SECTION 8810. Location of Forced Air Type Central Furnaces, <br /> Section 703(a) is amended by inserting an asterisk (*~ after <br />the word "furnace" in the second and third lines of paragraph 1 and <br />add at the bottom of Page 29 "*Except one side and the back may be <br />of lesser clearance if so listed." <br /> <br />SECTION 8810.1. Location of Forced Air Type Central Furnaces. <br /> Paragraph 6 of Section 703(a) is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> 6. Furnace installations on roofs shall be of a type approved <br /> for outdoor installation or sufficiently protected by a covering <br /> to maintain proper operation under all adverse weather cond~*~nns. <br /> Fire separation between the roof deck, attic, furred space or <br /> other occupancy shall be not less than one (1) hour rating <br /> unless approved for installation on combustible floors. No such <br /> installation shall be made within five (5) feet of any property <br /> line or within thirty (30) inches of any vertical projection <br /> wall, bank, sign, window air intake or other obstructions. <br /> <br />SECTION 8810.2. Location of Forced Air Type Central Furnaces. <br /> Section 703 is amended by redesignating paragraphs 703(a) 5, <br />6, and 7 as subsections 703(b), (c), and (d), respectively. <br /> <br />SECTION 8811. Access to Forced Air Type Central Furnaces. <br /> Subsection 704(e) is amended to read as follows: <br /> (e) By a cleated walkway not less than twenty-four (24) <br /> inches wide.
