the requirements of applicable standards. Such label <br />shall also state clearly that the water heater has been <br />reconditioned, and shall give the name and address of <br />the reconditioner. Every person applying for a permit <br />to install a used or reconditioned water heater shall <br />clearly state on his application for permit that such <br />equipment is used or reconditioned. <br /> <br /> (c) Notwithstanding standards for equipment and <br />installations or listings of approved testing agencies, <br />all gas storage-type water heaters and hot water <br />boilers, in addition to the primary temperature <br />control, shall be equipped with a temperature-limiting <br />device which shall consist of either an automatic <br />energy shut-off system, a temperature relief valve or <br />a combination temperature and pressure relief valve. <br /> <br /> The above required temperature-limiting device <br />shall be installed at the factory or shipped with the <br />appliance, accompanied by complete instructions for <br />its installation. When it is designed to shut off <br />the source of energy, it shall activate a valve or <br />relay which is separate from the valve or relay <br />operated by the primary temperature control. <br /> <br /> SECTION 23: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding Section 8-445 thereto to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-445. Oil Burning and Other Water Heaters. <br /> Section 1306 of the Uniform Plumbing Code, 1967 Edition, <br />is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 1306 - oil Burning and other Water Heaters. <br /> (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this <br />section, water heaters deriving heat from fuels or types <br />of energy other than gas shall be constructed and in- <br />stalled in accordance with approved standards in a <br />manner satisfactory to the Administrative Authority. <br />Vents for such appliances shall be approved or listed <br />types and shall be installed in conformity with their <br />conditions of approval. Proper provision shall be <br />made for an adequate supply of air for combustion and <br />for adequate ventilation of heater rooms or compartments. <br />Each such appliance shall be installed in an approved <br />location satisfactory to the Administrative Authority <br />and to local and State fire provention agencies. <br /> (b) Notwithstanding standards for equipment and <br />installations or listings of approved testing agencies, <br />all storage-type water heaters and hot water boilers, <br />regardless of source of energy, in addition to the <br />primary temperature control, shall be equipped with a <br />temperature-limiting device which shall consist of <br />either an automatic energy shutoff system, a temperature <br />relief valve or a combination temperature and pressure <br />relief valve. <br /> The above required %emperature-limiting device shall <br />be installed at the factory or shipped with the appliance, <br />accompanied by complete instructions for its installation. <br />When it is designed to shut off the source of energy, <br />it shall activate a valve or relay which is separate <br />from the valve or relay operated by the primary tempera- <br />ture control. <br /> <br /> SECTION 24: That Sections 8-376, 8-385, 8-399, 8-400, 8-401, <br />8-443, 8-456, and 8-489 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code are hereby <br />repealed. <br /> <br />-14- <br /> <br /> <br />
