SECTION 9: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding Section 8-145 thereto to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 8-145. Light and Ventilation. <br /> Section 1405(a) of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is <br /> hereby amended by adding a fifth paragraph to read as <br /> follows: <br /> For the purpose of determining light and ventilation <br /> requirements, any room may be considered as a portion of <br /> an adjoining room when one-half of the area of a common <br /> wall is open and unobstructed and provides an opening <br /> of not less than one-tenth of the floor area of the <br /> interior room or 25 square feet, whichever is greater. <br /> <br /> SECTION 10: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding Section 8-146 thereto to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-146. Kitchen Ventilation. <br /> Section 1405 of the Building Code, <br />by amended by adding a new subsection <br /> <br />1967 Edition, is here- <br />(d) to read as follows: <br /> <br /> (d) Kitchen Ventilation. There shall be installed in <br />the wall or ceiling, approximately over the cooking <br />facilities, a ventilating opening with a minimum area of <br />forty-eight (48) square inches and a minimum six (6) inch <br />dimension, connected by an incombustible ventilating <br />duct free to the outside of the building. The ventilating <br />duct for each kitchen shall have a minimum cross-sectional <br />area of twenty-eight (28) square inches. An approved <br />forced-draft system of ventilation may be substituted for <br />the natural-draft ventilating system. <br /> <br /> SECTION 11: That Sections 8-180, 8-181, and 8-201 of the <br />Santa Ana Municipal Code are hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> SECTION 12: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding Section 8-250 to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-250. Fire Extinquishing Systems, Chapter 38. <br /> CHAPTER 38 - FIRE EXTINGUISHING SYSTEMS <br /> <br />General Note: The entire Chapter has been reorganized and resectioned <br />to facilitate present use and future revision. <br />Scope <br /> Sec. 3801. (a) General. All fire-extinguishing systems required in <br />this Code shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of <br />this Chapter. <br /> All hose threads used in connection with fire-extinguishing <br />systems shall comply with the standards of the Fire Department. <br />(b) Approvals. All fire-extinguishing systems including automatic <br /> sprinklers, combination standpipe, dry and wet standpipes, special <br /> automatic extinguishing systems, and basement inlet pipes shall <br /> ~e a~proved and shall be subject to such periodic tests as may <br /> be required. The location of all Fire Department connections <br /> shall be approved by the Fire Department. <br /> (c) Definitions. For the purpose of this Chapter, certain terms <br /> are defined as follows: <br /> COMBINATION STANDPIPE is a fire line system with a constant water <br /> supply and installed for the use of the Fire Department and <br /> the occupants of the building. <br /> DRY STANDPIPE is a fire line system without a constant water <br /> supply and equipped with Fire Department inlet and outlet <br /> connections and installed exclusively for the use of the <br /> Fire Department. <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br /> <br />
