Subsection may be compounded with that specified in <br />paragraph No. 1, 2 or 3 of Subsection (a) of this <br />Section. The increases permitted in this Subsection <br />shall not apply when automatic fire-extinguishing <br />systems are installed under the following provisions: <br /> 1. Section 507 for an increase in allowable number <br /> of stories. <br /> 2. Section 3802(b) 6 for Group E, Divisions 1 and 2 <br /> occupancies. <br /> 3. Substitution for one-hour fire resistive construc- <br /> tion pursuant to Section 508. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5~: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding thereto Section 8-129 to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-129. Automatic Fire-extinguishing Systems. <br /> The second paragraph of Section 507 of the Building Code, <br />1967 Edition, is amended to read as follows: <br /> The limits set forth in Table No. 5-D may be increased <br /> by one story if the building is provided with an approved <br /> automatic fire-extinguishing system throughout. The increase <br /> in hgight for automatic fire-extinguishing systems shall not <br /> apply when the automatic fire-extinguishing systems through- <br /> out are installed under the following provisions: <br /> 1. Section 3802(b) 6 for Group E, Divisions 1 and 2 <br /> Occupancies. <br /> 2. Section 506, for an increase in allowable area. <br /> 3. Substitution for one-hour fire-resistive construction <br /> pursuant to Section 508. <br /> <br /> SECTION 6: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding thereto Section 8-135 to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 8-135. Boiler Rooms and Central Heatin~ Plants. <br /> The fourth paragraph of Section 1108 of the Building Code, <br /> 1967 Edition, is amended by adding the following exception: <br /> <br /> EXCEPTION: Buildings not more than one story in height of <br /> Group F, Division 2 Occupancy with an occupant <br /> load of less than 30". <br /> <br /> SECTION 7: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding Section 8-140 to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Sec. 8-140. Light and Ventilation. <br /> <br /> Section 1305(a) of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is <br /> amended by adding a fifth paragraph to read as follows: <br /> <br /> For the purpose of determining light and ventilation require- <br /> ments, any room may be considered as a portion of an adjoining <br /> room when one-half of the area of the common wall is open and <br /> unobstructed and provides an opening of not less than one-tenth <br /> of the floor area of the interior room or 25 square feet, <br /> whichever is greater. <br /> <br /> SECTION 8: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding Section 8-141 thereto to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-141. Kitchen Ventilation. <br /> <br /> Section 1305 of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is amended <br />by adding a new subsection (c) to read as follows: <br /> (c) Kitchen Ventilation. There shall be installed in the <br /> wall or ceiling, approximately over the cooking facilities, <br /> a ventilating opening with a minimum area of forty-eight (48) <br /> square inches and a minimum six-inch dimension, connected by <br /> an incombustible ventilating duct free to the outside of the <br /> building. The ventilating duct for each kitchen shall have <br /> a minimum cross-sectional area of twenty-eight (28) square <br /> inches. An approved forced-draft system of ventilation may <br /> be substituted for the natural-draft ventilating system. <br /> <br /> <br />
