Subsection may be compounded with that specified in paragraph No. 1, 2 or 3 of Subsection (a) of this Section. The increases permitted in this Subsection shall not apply when automatic fire-extinguishing systems are installed under the following provisions: 1. Section 507 for an increase in allowable number of stories. 2. Section 3802(b) 6 for Group E, Divisions 1 and 2 occupancies. 3. Substitution for one-hour fire resistive construc- tion pursuant to Section 508. SECTION 5~: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding thereto Section 8-129 to read as follows: Sec. 8-129. Automatic Fire-extinguishing Systems. The second paragraph of Section 507 of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is amended to read as follows: The limits set forth in Table No. 5-D may be increased by one story if the building is provided with an approved automatic fire-extinguishing system throughout. The increase in hgight for automatic fire-extinguishing systems shall not apply when the automatic fire-extinguishing systems through- out are installed under the following provisions: 1. Section 3802(b) 6 for Group E, Divisions 1 and 2 Occupancies. 2. Section 506, for an increase in allowable area. 3. Substitution for one-hour fire-resistive construction pursuant to Section 508. SECTION 6: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding thereto Section 8-135 to read as follows: Sec. 8-135. Boiler Rooms and Central Heatin~ Plants. The fourth paragraph of Section 1108 of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is amended by adding the following exception: EXCEPTION: Buildings not more than one story in height of Group F, Division 2 Occupancy with an occupant load of less than 30". SECTION 7: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Section 8-140 to read as follows: Sec. 8-140. Light and Ventilation. Section 1305(a) of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is amended by adding a fifth paragraph to read as follows: For the purpose of determining light and ventilation require- ments, any room may be considered as a portion of an adjoining room when one-half of the area of the common wall is open and unobstructed and provides an opening of not less than one-tenth of the floor area of the interior room or 25 square feet, whichever is greater. SECTION 8: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Section 8-141 thereto to read as follows: Sec. 8-141. Kitchen Ventilation. Section 1305 of the Building Code, 1967 Edition, is amended by adding a new subsection (c) to read as follows: (c) Kitchen Ventilation. There shall be installed in the wall or ceiling, approximately over the cooking facilities, a ventilating opening with a minimum area of forty-eight (48) square inches and a minimum six-inch dimension, connected by an incombustible ventilating duct free to the outside of the building. The ventilating duct for each kitchen shall have a minimum cross-sectional area of twenty-eight (28) square inches. An approved forced-draft system of ventilation may be substituted for the natural-draft ventilating system.
