NS-1546 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA PROVIDING <br />FOR THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON THE 5TH <br />DAY OF APRIL, 1977 FOR THE ELECTION OF FOUR MEM- <br />BERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND FOR SUBMISSION TO <br />THE ELECTOB~ OF THE CITY OF A PROPOSED AMENDMENT <br />TO THE CITY CHARTER, GIVING NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, <br />HOURS DURING WHICH THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN, AND <br />AUTHORIZING APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION OFFICERS TO <br />SERVE AT SAID ELECTION. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That a General Municipal Election is hereby <br />called to be held in the City of Santa Ana, California on April <br />5, 1977. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That there shall be voting precincts, <br />several of which are single State and County precincts renumbered <br />for said Election and the rest of which consist of consolidations <br />of State and County precincts, all consisting of territory within <br />the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That the Precinct Board of each precinct shall <br />consist of one Inspector, one Judge, and two Clerks; and that said <br />Precinct Officers shall receive the following compensation for their <br />services: Inspectors, $29.00, Judges and Clerks, $24.00, and owners <br />of privately owned polling places shall receive the sum of $15.00 <br />for the use of each polling place. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That the consolidated voting precincts, the <br /> polling places thereof, and the Precinct Board for each such pre- <br /> cinct shall be as set out on that certain document ~headed <br /> "ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING PLACES" on file in the office of <br /> the Clerk of the Council, and the Boards of each such voting pre- <br /> cinct are hereby appointed. The Clerk of the Council is hereby <br /> authorized to find and appoint substitutes for any election officer <br /> hereby appointed who is unable or unwilling to act. <br /> SECTION 5: That said Election shall be held and conducted <br /> in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of <br /> Santa Ana, the Constitution of the State of California, and the <br /> provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California insofar <br /> as the same may be applicable thereto. On the day of the Election <br /> the polls shall be opened at 7:00 A.M. and shall be kept open until <br /> 8:00 P.M., at which time the pools shall be closed. The Clerk of <br /> the Council shall prepare and cause to be published a NOTICE OF <br /> ELECTION for one time; a list of names of the nominees in the order <br /> in which they will appear on the Ballot and the respective offices <br /> for which they are nominated once a week for two successive weeks, <br /> with at least 5 intervening days between the dat~ of publication; <br /> and a notice of election officers and polling places for one time. <br /> SECTION 6: The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and <br /> cause to be printed official ballots and election supplies necessary <br /> for the holding of said Election as required by law, and sample <br /> ballots and polling place cards, and shall provide for the mailing <br /> of the same to each registered elector within the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
