ORDINANCE NO. NS-1413 <br />PAGB TWO <br /> <br />such building or structure within any 12-month period <br />without making the entire building or structure comply. <br />The new construction shall conform to the requirements <br />of this Code for a new building of like area, height, <br />and occupancy. Such building or structure, including <br />new additions, shall not exceed the areas and heights <br />specified in this Code. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That section 8-99 of the Santa Ana Muni- <br />cipal Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-99. Fees (Section 303). <br /> <br /> Section 303 of the Building Code is amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Fees and charges for building permits, plan checking, <br />reinspection, and investigations shall be established <br />and regulated by resolution of the City Council. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5: That sections 8-100, 8-102, 8-109, 8-110, <br />and 8-111 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code are hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> SECTION 6: That the Santa Aha Municipal Code, is <br />hereby ~mended by adding a section, to be numbered 8-120, <br />which said section reads as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-120. Fire Warning System (Section 1413). <br /> <br /> Section 1413 of the Building Code is amended by adding <br />two paragraphs thereto, to read as follows: <br /> <br />When alterations, repairs, or additions requiring a <br />permit and having a valuation in excess of $1,000 <br />occur, or when one or more sleeping rooms are added or <br />created in existing Group R, Division 3 Occupancies, <br />the entire building shall be provided with smoke <br />detectors located as required for new Group R, Division <br />3 Occupancies. <br /> <br />In new construction, required smoke detectors shall <br />receive their primary power from the building wiring <br />when such wiring is served from a commercial source. <br />Wiring shall be permanent and without a disconnecting <br />switch other than those required for overcurrent pro- <br />tection. Smoke detectors may be battery operated when <br />installed in existing building, or in buildings without <br />commercial power, or in buildings which undergo altera- <br />tions, repairs, or additions regulated by the second <br />paragraph of this Section. <br /> <br /> ~SECTION 7: That section 8-157 of the Santa Ana Muni- <br />cipal Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-157. Exception for minor buildings (Section <br />1603(a)). <br /> <br /> Section 1603(a) of the Building Code is amended by <br />adding an exception after the second paragraph, to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />EXCEPTION: Fire-resistive construction of exterior <br />walls shall not be required on detached Group B or M <br />occupancy buildings having an area of not more than <br />four hundred (400) square feet when such building is <br />ten (10) feet or more from the adjacent property line <br />and not less than ten (10) feet from any building on <br />the same building site. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
