NS- 1416 <br />PAGE TWO <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is <br />hereby amended by adding a Division to be numbered 2 to Article <br />V of Chapter 8, said Division to consist of sections numbered <br />8-700 through 8-799 inclusive and to read as follows: <br /> <br />DIVISION 2. ADMINISTRATION AND ADDITIONAL <br /> REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />Sec. 8-700. Enforcement. <br /> <br /> The director of building safety of the city is vested <br />with the authority to enforce all of the provisions of this code <br />and shall have the right to enter upon any premises at all <br />reasonable hours for the purpose of inspecting the installation <br />and working of all apparatus coming within the terms of this <br />article and no person shall interfere with the director of build- <br />ing safety in making the inspections or refuse to permit the <br />director of building safety or his deputies to enter the premises <br />for such purposes. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-705. Penalties. <br /> <br /> (a) This code shall not be construed to relieve from <br />or lessen the responsibility of any party owning, operating, con- <br />trolling or installing any electric wiring, electric devices or <br />electric materials for damages to persons or property caused by <br />any defect therein, nor shall the jurisdiction be held as assum- <br />ing any such liability by reason of the inspection authorized <br />herein or certificate of inspection issued as herein provided. <br /> <br /> (b) The director of building safety is authorized to <br />determine the intent and meaning of any provisions of this code. <br /> <br /> (c) Any person violating any of the provisions of <br />this code shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> (d) Every person violating any of the provisions of <br />this code shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each <br />day or portion thereof during which such violation continues. <br /> <br /> (e) It is unlawful for any person, either as owner, <br />architect, contractor, artisan, or otherwise, to do or knowingly <br />to cause or permit to be done any electrical wiring as defined <br />in this code in such manner that the same shall not conform to <br />all of the provisions of this code. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-711. Permits. <br /> <br /> No electrical equipment shall be installed within or <br />on any building, structure or premises, publicly or privately <br />owned, nor shall any alteration or addition be made in any such <br />existing equipment without first securing a permit therefor <br />from the director of building safety, except for minor repair <br />work, such as the replacement of lamps or the repair and con- <br />nection of portable electrical equipment to suitable permanently <br />installed receptacles. <br /> <br /> <br />
