NS-1519 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ADDING CHAPTER 30 TO THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR THE DESIGNATION OF PLACES OF HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That the Santa Aha Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding a new chapter, to be numbered Chapter 30, consisting of sections numbered 30-1 through 30- 5 inclusive, which said chapter reads as follows: Chapter 30 PLACES OF HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTUAL SIGNIFICANCE Sec. 30-1. Register of Historical Property. The City Council may, by resoluti6n, designate as historical property any building or part thereof, object, structure, monument, or collection thereof having importance to the history or architecture of the City of Santa Ana in accordance with the criteria set forth in section 30-2. The Clerk of the Council shall maintain a register which shall consist of copies of each such resolution and which shall be known as the City of Santa Ana Register of Historical Property. The City Council may at any time repeal, revise, or modify any such resolution upon reconsideration of the historical or architectual importance of the places therein described. Sec. 30-2. Criteria for selection (a) Property may be designated as historical property if it meets any of the following standards of architectual significance: (i) Structures or areas that embody distinguishing characteristics of an architectual style, period, or method of construction, or of architectual development within the City. (ii) Notable works of a master builder, designer, or architect whose style influenced the City's architectual development, or structures showing the evolution of an architect's style. (iii) Rare structures displaying a building type, design, or indigenous building form. (iv) Structures which embody special architectual and design features.
