REL/fm <br />2/19/81 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NS-15?9 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING <br /> SECTION 8-667, 8-720, 8-828, 8-829, 8-843 <br />AND 8-1025 AND REPEALING SECTIONS 8-915, 8-933, <br />8-945, AND 8-1080 THEREOF TO ADOPT THE NATIONAL <br />ELECTRICAL CODE, 1981 EDITION, WITH AMENDMENTS <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Section 8-667 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-667. Adoption by reference. <br /> <br /> There is adopted by the City that certain code known as <br />the National Electrical Code, 1981 Edition, and the whole <br />thereof save and except such portions as are deleted by the <br />amendments set forth in this Article, of which said code not <br />less than three (3) copies have been and are on file in the <br />office of the Clerk of the Council of the City. The said <br />code is adopted and incorporated as fully as if set forth at <br />length herein, as provided for in Section 419 of the Charter <br />of the City, and subject to all amendments set forth in this <br />article, shall be in effect within the City of Santa Ana <br />from the effective date of this ordinance. Any provision of <br />this article amending the "Electrical Code" or "National <br />Electrical Code" shall be construed as amending the said <br />adopted code, 1981 Edition, including such provisions enacted <br />prior to the enactment of this ordinance and not thereafter <br />repealed. The said adopted code, 1981 Edition, as thus <br />amended, together with all other provisions of this article, <br />shall be known as the Electrical Code of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That Section 8-720 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-720. Same - Expiration. <br /> <br /> Every permit shall expire and become null and void for <br />any one or more of the following reasons: <br /> <br /> 1. Whenever the electric wiring authorized by a <br />permit is not conunenced within one hundred eighty (180) <br />from the date of issuance of such permit. <br /> <br />days <br /> <br /> 2. Whenever the electric wiring authorized by a <br />permit has been suspended, abandoned, or discontinued for a <br />continuous period of one hundred eighty (180) days. <br /> <br /> 3. Whenever the electric wiring done during any <br />continuous period of one hundred eighty (180) days amounts <br />to less than ten (10) percent of the total of the electric <br />wiring authorized by such permit. <br /> <br /> Before recommencing, proceeding with, or doing any <br />electric wiring authorized by, but not done before expiration <br />of any such permit, a new permit shall be obtained therefor, <br />and the fee for such permit shall be the fee required for a <br />new permit. <br /> <br /> <br />
