ORDINANCE NO. NS-1794 <br />PAGE NINE <br /> <br /> (C) The above-described doors shall be equipped with a <br />single cylinder deadbolt having a minimum projection of one <br />inch and an embedment of at least three-fourths (3/4) inch <br />into the strike receiving the bolt. The bolt shall be con- <br />structed so as to resist cutting tool attacks. The cylinder <br />shall have a cylinder guard, a minimum of five (5) pin tum- <br />blers, and shall be connected to the inner portion of the lock <br />by connecting screws of at least one-fourth (1/4) inch diameter. <br /> <br /> The provisions of this subsection do not apply where <br />panic hardware is required or an equivalent device is approved <br />by the enforcing authority. Further a dual locking mechanism, <br />constructed so that both deadbolt and latch can be retracted <br />by a single action of the inside door knob or lever, may be <br />utilized provided it meets all other specifications for lock- <br />ing devices. <br /> <br /> (d) Installation and construction of frames and jambs <br />for exterior swinging doors shall be as follows: <br /> <br /> (1) Door jambs shall be installed with solid <br />backing in such a manner that no voids exist between <br />the strike side of the jamb and the frame opening for <br />a vertical distance of six (6) inches each side of the <br />strike. Finger joints are prohibited within twelve (12) <br />inches vertically of any locking device. <br /> <br /> (2) In wood framing, horizontal blocking shall be <br />placed between studs at door lock height for three (3) <br />stud spaces each side of the door openings. Trimmers <br />shall be full length from the heads to the floor with <br />solid backing against soles plates. <br /> <br /> (e) The inactive leaf of double doors shall be equipped <br />with metal flushbolt(s) having a minimum embedment of five- <br />eights (5/8) inch into the head and threshold of the door frame. <br /> <br /> (f) Glazing in exterior doors or within <br />of a door locking mechanism shall be of fully <br />rated burglary resistance glazing. <br /> <br />forty (40) inches <br />tempered glass or <br /> <br /> (g) Hinges for outswinging exterior doors shall be equip- <br />ped with non-removable hinge pins or a mechanical interlock to <br />preclude removal of the door from the exterior by removing the <br />hinge pins. <br /> <br /> <br />
