NORTH HARBOR SPECIFIC PLAN <br /> <br />Chainlink screens and gates with slat inserts of wood, <br />corrugated fibergiass and metal are prohibited, except <br />in industrial districts. <br /> <br />Design fntegration <br />Rooftop screening is best provided by utilizing the <br />wall parapet or sloped roof. All screening should be <br />integrated into the design. Use similar colors and <br />materials of the total development. <br /> <br />S.~.IS Ligh~g <br /> <br />Lighting is intended to focus attention on major design <br />elements by creating consistent bands of light at areas <br />of special interest, <br /> <br />Exterior light fixtures shall be integrated into the over- <br />all design of the building. <br /> <br />Light standards shall not be placed within landscape <br />planters or next to tree cut-outs in parking areas. <br /> <br />Parking lot fixtures 20 to 25 feet high am prefened and <br />should be compatible with the overall building design. <br /> <br />All exterior lighting should be adequately controlled <br />and shielded to prevent glare and undesirable illumi- <br />nation on adjacent properties and streets. <br /> <br />High intensity security lighting fixtures should not be <br />substituted for site landscape lighting or general build- <br />ing exterior illumination. Such lighting should be lim- <br />ited to loading and storage locations or to similar ser- <br />vice areas only. Site lighting shall be an integral <br />design feature of the site and architecture. <br /> <br />Exterior lighting of the site, landscape or building <br />should be of a configuration, style and finish that com- <br />plement the materials of the building and its overall <br />architectural theme. <br /> <br />There must be an overriding concern that lighting <br />strategies create unity between the various buildings <br />in a clustered development. (Reference 6.2.3 ) All out- <br />side storage areas and pedestrian corridors shall be <br />illuminated to a minimum maintained one foot candle <br />of light. <br /> <br />1. Non-English sign characters are permissi- <br /> ble as primary signage providing the fol- <br /> lowing criteria has been met: <br /> <br />a.
