ORDINANCE NS-2273 <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />submitted by the special inspector to show cause why his <br />certificate of registration should not be revoked. <br />Failure to appear at such hearing by the special inspec- <br />tor may result in immediate revocation of said special <br />inspector's certificate of registration. <br /> <br /> Special inspectors qualification examinations are to <br />be given only for the execution of the work described <br />under Section 1706.1 of Volume 1 of the Uniform Building <br />Code in the incorporated area of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 10: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding a section, to be numbered 8-150, which said <br />section reads as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-150. <br /> <br />Fire protection requirements (Volume 1, Section <br />3403.2. <br /> <br /> The first paragraph of Section 3403.2 of the Building Code is <br />amended by adding thereto the following: <br /> <br /> EXCEPTION: If additions, alterations or repairs made to <br />any building constructed prior to January 1, 1946, other than <br />an R-occupancy building, exceed twenty thousand dollars <br />($20,000.00) in cost in any one-year period, then either (A) <br />the entire building must be completely sprinklered in accor- <br />dance with fire department standards, or (B) the building must <br />comply with all the following requirements: <br /> <br />The ceiling of a roof system shall be of one-hour <br />construction, and all ceiling or wall penetrations <br />shall have approved fire dampers. <br /> <br />Ail stairways shall be completely enclosed with <br />one-hour construction to exits; and enclosed stair- <br />ways or required exits shall lead directly to the <br />outside of the building. <br /> <br />Draft stops are required in floors in accordance <br />with Section 7803. In attic areas, one-hour walls <br />shall be required for every one thousand (1,000) <br />square feet of area. <br /> <br />Smoke detectors with an alarm system, receiving <br />their primary power from the building wiring, shall <br />be required throughout the building in accordance <br />with NFPA standards. <br /> <br />Se <br /> <br />Either (a) corridors, regardless of occupant load, <br />shall be one-hour construction; or (b) a "life <br />safety" sprinkler system, as approved by the fire <br /> <br /> <br />
