ORDINANCE NS-2273 <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />Be~. 8-341 <br /> <br />Horizontal piping (section 314.7). <br /> <br />Section 314.7 of the plumbing cOde is amended as follows: <br /> <br />314.7 Horizontal cast-iron drain, waste, and vent piping, and <br />all other suspended horizontal piping two and one-half (2%) <br />inches and larger, shall be supported with approved rod and <br />hangers. <br /> <br />Exception: Plumbers tape (perforated strap-iron) may be used to support <br />piping 2" and smaller in type V (wood) construction only. Plumbers tape <br />shall be galvanized and not less than 3/4" wide and 22 gage. <br /> <br /> SECTION 20: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding a section, to be numbered 8-342, which said <br />section reads as follows: <br /> <br />Bee. 8-342 <br /> <br />Suspended piping support (Table 3-1). <br /> <br /> Table 3-1 of the plumbing code is amended by adding footnote <br />2 to the requirements for horizontal piping of the following <br />materials: Copper Tube and Pipe; Steel and Brass Pipe for Water or <br />DWV; Steel, Brass and Tinned Copper Pipe for Gas; Schedule 40 PVC <br />and ABS DWV; CPVC; and Lead. <br /> <br />Code <br /> <br />Sec. <br /> <br />SECTION 21: That section 8-400 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />8-400. Water piping in buildings (Section 609.3.1). <br /> <br /> Section 609.3.1 of the Uniform Plumbing Code is amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />609.3.1 Non-metallic and ferrous piping shall be prohibited; <br />except that ferrous piping four (4) inches and larger may be <br />used when protected against corrosion and installed in <br />channels, tubes, or in a similar protective manner when <br />approved by the administrative authority. <br /> <br /> SECTION 22: That section 8-401 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-401.
