City Hall, Santa Aha, Oalifornia, J$nuary 19, 1914, at 7:~0 p.m. Board met in regular session. Present, Trustees Alderman, McPhee, Greenleaf, Board called to order by President Frank ~y. In Re Alley betWeen Spu~geon & French In Re Pool Room License C.g. Holmes In Re Franchise Tax P.E. R'y Co. In Re Use of Streets Spurgeon Realty Co. In Re Graveling on Tenth & lashtngton Grubb, Ey and the ~lerk. On motion of Alderman, seconded by McPhee and carried, the petition of A.O. Bowers, et al, askin~ permission to pave an alley between Spurgeon and l~rench Streets between Third and Fourth Ste., was granted, the speci- fications for said paving to be in accordance with speciffications as adopted by a majority of the property # On motion of Grubb, seconded by Greenleaf and carried, the petition of 0.~. Holmes asking for permission to conduct a billiard and pool roo~ at 516 E. 4th Street, was granted, provided however, that the said O.E. Holmes surrender the license now held by him. The foregoing motion was carried by the followin~ vote to-wit: Ayes, Trustees Alderman, Greenleaf, Grubb and Ey. ~oes, Trustee McPhee. # A voucher presented by the Pacific Electric Railway Oompany for $2§4.94 for the amount due the Oity of Santa Anaon account of franchise, Ordinance No.414 for year ending ~an.2nd 1914, ae per certified statement furnished was on motion daly seconded and carried, referre~ to the Finance Oommittee. # Mr, Bisby of the Spurgeon Realty Oompany appeared before the Board and stated that the Spurgeon Realty Oompany were building a block at the corner of Fourth and Sycamore Sra., and requested the use of one-~alf of Sycamore Street adjacent to the property and the u~e of East Fourth Street in front of the property for loading and unloading material, and for the use of the alley in the rear of the property~ he also asked p~rmission to build a galvanized iron building on Sycamore Street for the storage of tools, etc.' On motion of Alderman, duly seconded and carried, the fore- ~oing request was granted. # On motion of Gr~bb, duly seconded and carried, the Street Department is directed, to gravel Tenth Street and ~ashing- ton Avenue between Main St. and Broadway.
