Co. in reference to the $50.00 deposit held by the City covering the setting of poles, anchors, excavating in streets, etc., asking that they have the privilep $~ withdraw same was on motion of Trustee McPhee, duly seconded by Maryatt and carried, denied. The application~of W.E. Beckwith and W.J.Shadel for refund on their auto for hire license for $20.S0 each was on motion of Trustee McPhee, duly seconded by Greenleaf and carried, granted # The applications of L.B.Smlley and A.J. Kuss for sm ~uto for hire license accompanied by $10,O00 bonds each with Pacific Coast Casualty Co. as sureties, was on motion of Trustee Tubbs duly seconded by MoPhee and carried, license granted and bond referred to the President for approval. On motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Maryatt and carried, the petition of Mont Jackson, Chief of the Fire Dept. for 15 helmets,12 tumn out coats and ~ pyrenes to equip one of the trucks, was referred to a committee; the President appoint- lng Trustees Greenleaf and Maryatt The President on motion of Trustee as the committee. Greenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbe and carried, &ppointed Trustees Greenleaf and Maryatt a committee to make some settlement with the Southern Counties fire Gas Co. for the 350 ft. of old, hose used by them during the high water. The report of S.H.Finley, Oivil Engineer in reference to con- ditions of the outfall sewer and storm water drainage on West First St., recommending first, that the outfall sewer line be left on present grade and protected on the South side to pre- vent undercutting, that all ordinary drainage water be con- ducted into one opening under the sewer line at the end of Newport drainage ditch. ~econd, that no attempt be made to provide waterways across First St. large enough to carry unusu~ flood waters but instead one or two small ourlverts and street be well graded. On motion duly seconded and carried, was accepted and the Water Supt. and ~treet Supt. to the recommendations as reported. the repor act upon
