On motion of Trustee Greenleaf, <br />duly seconded by MoPhee, the matter w~e referred to a committee <br />Trustees MoPhee and Greenleaf being appointed as such committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Ma.ryatt and carried, <br />several Canadian soldiers were granted a permit to give lectures <br />and entertainment free of license. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Tubbe, duly seconded by Greenleaf and oarrle~ <br />a permit wa~ granted to A~lne & Hayes to lay a pipe line across <br />B~letol St. near Falrview Ave. <br /> <br />The monthly reports of the Building Inspector, Recorder,Marshal <br />Fire Chief and the Clerk, were on motion of Trustee Greenleaf, <br />duly seconded by Maryatt,referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Greenlea~, duly seconded and carried, the <br />committee appointed in reference to the offer ma~e by G.I.Bauer <br />le continued. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Tubbe, duly seconded by Maryatt and carried, <br /> the following committee report on conditions pertaining to re- <br /> paving of E. ~th from French to $.P. depot and Main from 20th <br /> to the S.P. track, was accepted a~d ordered spread on the minutes <br /> <br /> ' Santa And, March ~rd, l~l~. <br /> To the Hen. Board of T~uetees <br /> City of Santa And, <br /> Gentlemen:- Your committee appointed to investigate and report <br /> on the matter of paving North Main St. from 20th St. North to <br /> the 8outhern Pacific R.R. track and East ~th St. from French St. <br /> to the Southern Pacific R.R. track, beg to report as follows: <br /> First:- That there is absolutely no question a~ to the <br /> necessity for the renewal of the pavement on the streets referred <br /> to, a~ p&toh work would simply be a wa&ts of money. <br /> <br /> Second:- That the proposed street improvement will <br /> involve a considerable expense on the abutting property owners <br /> many of whom are people of moderate means who would doubtlessly <br /> be more or less financially embarrassed if forced to raise this <br /> money immediately. <br /> <br /> Third:- That this proposed street work, if ordered <br /> done by the present Board of Trustees could not be completed <br /> during their term of office, and for other reasons that might he <br /> mentioned your committee begs to make the following recommendatio: <br /> <br /> <br />
