City Hall, July 2~th,1919, ?:30 p.m. and Greenleaf. On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Trustee Dale, Trustee Oreenleaf was appointed President pro tom. ]n Re Communication,~.J.Jackman In Re Fire Chief's Convention In Re Application for Rooming House and Lunch Counter license In Re Application Highway Co. nd Boulevard Express In Re Edison Frahc~se Tax In Re East 5th St. paving In Re R.R. Tracks, Maple Ave. A communication from S.J.Jaokman calling the Board's attentioz to take advantage of the gowernment's offer of surplus food. On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Chapman that the matter be referred to & committee, with the President of the Board as Chairma~ of the Committee, Trustee Chapman was appointed on the committee. A communication from the Secy. of the Pacific Coast Associati of Fire Chiefs asking this City to send representatives to the Convention to be held in Portland, Oregon Sept.15th to 1Sth. On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Dale same was ordered placed on file. The application of O. Estrada for a license to conduct a rooming house at 416 E. ~th St. and a lunch counter mt 416~ East 4th was on motion of Trustee Tubbs,duly seconded by Chapman referred to the Chief of Police and Sanitary Insl~eotor with power to act. In the matter of the &pplications cf the Highway Transportatlo Transportat. Co.and Boulevard Express Co. asking that a date be set for hearing was on motion of Trustee Chapmen, duly seconded by Tubbe referred to a committee, Trustees Tubbe and Chapman being appointed as such committee. On motion of Trustee Dale, duly seconded by Chapman and carrie~, the committee report on the Edison Franchise Tax matter was accepted , and on motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Chapman and carried, the voucher from the So.Cal. Edison Co. for $2018.00 franchise tax was accepted. On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by C~apman and oa~ried,; the action taken at the meeting of July Zlst in reference to East 5th St. paving under the Finley contract is esoinded and specifications 80 revised, 1-2~-~ are to be use!. On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Chapman, the matter of straightening the Railroad tracks on Maple Ave. be left in ~ the hands of the Street Committee, City Engineer Hoy and City [ Arty.Scott with power to act.
