Santa Aha, City Hall, Aug. 25th,1919, 7:3o p.m. Board met in regular session. Meeting called to order by President Mitchell. Present, Trustees Tubbs, Chapman, Dale, Greenleaf and Mitchell. In Re Highway Tr anspoz~at ion In Re Pacific Tel.Franchlee Tax In Re Bid for paving Maple Ave. In Re Bid for paving Grand and Santa Clara Aves In Re Permit Union Oil 0o. In Re Application W.O.Shanke, Gasoline tanks On motion of Trustee Dale, duly seconded By Chapman and carried, by the following vote, Ayes, Trustees Tubbs,Chapman and Dale, Noes, Trustees Greenleaf and Mitchell, the request of the Highway Transportation Co. for a permit to operate an express and freight transportation service between Los Angeles and this City was denied. On motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbe and carried, the statement of the Pacific Tel.& Tel Co. showing the amount of franchise tax due the City to be $1,280.18, was accepted and placed on file and voucher deposited with City Treasurer. On motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbs, the Clerk was instructed to open bide received for paving City property on Maple Ave., one bid was received that of Steele Finley, who bid the sum of 15~ per sq. ft. On motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Chapman, the bid was accepted and on motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Dale, property owners one-half block each way shall stand the expense for the intersection at Walnut & Maple On motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Greenleaf, the Clerk was instructed to open bids received for paving the City's portion of Grand Ave from 4th to Santa Clara and & portion of Santa Clara. Two bide were received, Wells & Bream er bid as follows: Item 1. 15 and 6 tenths cents (O.156) per sq. ft. Item 2. Twenty-two Dollars ($22.00) Orange Co. Engineering& Construction Co. Item 1. Fourteen cenle (14d) Item 2. Twenty Dollars ($20.00) A motion ~Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Dale that contractge awarded to the Orange Co. Engineering and Const.Co. carried. The application of the Union Oil Co. for a permit to move their present gasoline service station from Broadway & 6th St. to the Southwest corner of Broadway and 3rd ate. was granted On mo&ion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Dale. # The application of W.O.Shanks to install two 50 gel.tanks underground, same to comply with Ordinance $642 was on motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Dale referred to a committee with power to act. Trustees Dale and Greenleaf being appointed ae such committee.
