Carlisle fzr operating a repair shop <br /> at 1302 W. 5th St. without a ~rmit.~*~'On motion of <br /> Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded hy Greenleaf and car- <br /> ried, se~e-~em referred to the Chief of Police. <br /> <br /> The petition of property owners on Greenleaf St, <br /> asking that a sewer be installed on Greenleaf Stree' <br /> from Santa Clara to l?th St. on a 50-55 basis was <br /> read. On motion o f Trustee Chapman duly seconded <br /> by Greanleaf and carried, action on same was defer- <br /> red at this time. <br /> <br /> In the matter of the complaint of Minnie A. Bray et <br /> al in reference to sanitation in the Mexican quart- <br /> ers in the Western Part of the City, particularly <br /> blocks embracing Third ~ Fifth Streets f~om Daisy <br /> to Townsend and from Hlckey to Tst Streets, stating <br /> that the~e premises are inhabited by Mexican famili~ <br /> in disease, breeding huts and tents of 30 or more in <br /> number on said plot of ground, without sewerage, cee <br /> <br />pools or any provisions according to law. Complaint <br /> also made against the whiskey traffic in this sec- <br /> tion, stating certain houses are visited at all <br /> houms of the day and night by dozens of automobiles <br /> end motorcycles bringing and carrying goods in suit <br /> oases etc. Complaint a~so is made against an em- <br /> ployment bureau located at ~20 E. 4th St. and owned <br /> by Frank ~usselman which is the entrance to gam~liz <br /> quarters; said office being a nuisance to pedes- <br /> trians pas~ing on the sidewalks in the vicinity of <br /> <br /> maid office; ladies being insulted by Mexican men <br /> hanging around said office. The motion of Trustee <br /> Greenleaf that the complaints be referred to a com- <br /> mittee of the whole to meet at 5: P. ~. Tuesday, <br /> March 29th for an investigation was du~y seconded b~ <br /> Chapman and carried. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Chapman duly seconded by Green- <br /> leaf and carried, the grant deed from Ernst C. Am- <br /> bling et al for right-of-way of necessary width to <br /> lay,construct, maintain, repair or re~lsce a sewer <br /> line was accerted. It is expressly understood that <br /> the line will be laid just northerl~ ef and close <br /> against the North aide of the present head wall of <br /> the Highway culvert now in ~osition. <br /> <br /> <br />
