City Council met for a special emergency meeting. <br />Nesting called to order by Nayor Witmer. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees A.F. LeGaye, E.G. Warner, <br />W.H. Penn, A.C. HasenJaeger, Paul B. Wltmer. <br /> <br />Absent: T~ustees None. <br /> <br />The Clerk was absent and the Clyde C. Downing, <br />City Attorney acted as Clerk Ex-officio. <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br />March llth, 1933. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Earthquake Emergency. <br /> <br />That the City of Santa Aha has Just suffered a severe <br /> <br />earthquake, and earthquake tremors are occurring every <br /> <br />few minutes, and it is necessary and required that <br /> <br />emergency measures be passed for protecting the life of <br /> <br />the inhabitants of the City of Santa Ans. <br /> <br />T~ustee A.C. HasenJaeger offered the following resolution <br /> <br />and moved its adoption, seconded by Trustee A.F. LeGaye <br /> <br />and unanimously adopted: <br /> <br /> "Whereas, there now exists an emergency for the <br />exercise of extra police power to protect the City of <br />Santa Ana, it is therefore resolved that a Committee, <br />consisting of the Nayor and four other members of the <br />City Council, be and the same arq hereby appointed to <br />take charge of the police force and the employees of the <br />Cit~ for the purpose of protecting the City of Santa Ana <br />and ~learing the streets and for any other public purpose <br />as they may deem necessary, and to expend any and all <br />such sums as in their Judgment mSy seem necessary." <br /> <br />There being no further business to come before the meetin~ <br />a recess was taken. <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />City Attbrney, Ex-officio Clerk.
