Pemberton. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Applicstion <br /> <br />Joe Haupert. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Street Roller. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Peso, No. 2388 <br /> <br />Projects ~nder SERA. <br /> <br />the Taxicab Con~nission. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee LeGaye, seconded by Warner and car- <br />ried, action was deferred on the application of Robert <br />Gibson to drive a taxicab pending transfer of OWnership <br />of the Broadway Cab Company. <br /> <br />,, <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Warner, seconded by LeGaye and car- <br />ried, the communication of Norrell E. Rose in behalf of <br /> <br />the residents in the 800 block West Fi~th Street, thankin <br /> adopting <br />the Council for/the ordinance closing dance halls at mid- <br /> <br />night, was received and filed. <br /> <br />Two claims and demands signed by Donald W. Pemberton in <br />amounts of $80,000.00 and $8,000.00 in behalf of his son <br />Jackie Pemberton, were presented,againSt the City of <br /> <br />Ana,~ for inJ~Arie8 received March' 30th, 1934, and.for medi- <br />cal attention, etc. On motion of Trustee LeGaye, seconded <br />by Penn and carried, the claims and demands of Donald W. <br />Pemberton were referred to the City Attorney. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee LeGaye, seconded by Warner and car- <br />ried, on the advise of the City Attorney, the claims and <br />demands of Donald W. Pemberton in behalf of his son, <br />Jackie Pemberton in amounts of $80,000.00 and $8,000.00, <br />were rejected. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Warner~ seconded by Penn and carried <br />the application of Joe Haupert for permission to erect a <br />service station on the northeast corner of First and <br />French Streets, was referred to the Planning Commission. <br />No oral or written protests were filed and on motion of <br />Trustee LeGaye, seconded by Warner and carried, the recom <br />mendation of the Planning Commission was accepted and the <br />application of Joe Haupert was granted under special uses <br />according to plans presented. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Warner, seconded by LeGaye an~ car- <br />ried, the renting of a seven ton steam roller for the use <br />of the Street Department was referred to Trustee HasenJae- <br />get, Street Superintendent and the Purchasing Agent with <br />power to act. <br /> <br />A Resolution was introduced resolving that a works progra~ <br />instead of a direct relief program is essential as a means <br />of dealing with unemployment problems in the State of <br />California, that the extent, financing and character of <br />the works program should be similar to the CWA when that <br />organization was in full operation; and that the amount <br /> <br /> <br />
