Rubio was denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the application of the Ernest L. Kellogg Post 1680 for per- <br />m~ssion to sell poppies on the streets of Santa Ana for <br />Veteran's Relief, was granted. <br /> <br />A petition was presented signed by residents in the vicinit <br />of First Street, Second Street and Broadway to discontinue <br />the use of loud speakers and public address systems on the <br />building fronts, sidewalks and streets, the operation of same <br />having become a public nuisance. On motion of Txnlstee Penn, <br />seconded by Layton and carried, the petition was referred to <br />the City Attorney for investigation and report back as to <br />the advisability of passing an Ordinance to prohibit the <br />nuisance. <br /> <br />A Resolution was read by B. K. Burnett, Secretary of the <br />Santa Aha Local Union of Bridge, Ornamental, Rochnen and <br />Structural Iron Workers, calling attention to the condi~ion~ <br />existing at the new City Hall being constructed, whereby <br />foreign steel workers are gainfully employed and local wenke~ <br />remain unemployed. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by <br />Layton and carried, the Chair was authorized to appoint a <br />committee to meet at the City Hall site Tuesday noon, May <br />21st, 1935, to investigate the situation ~nd give local work- <br />men a fair trial regarding their qualifications as Steel <br />workers. Trustees Smith, Bruns and Building Inspector Prebl~ <br />were appointed as the conunittee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the applications of electrical contractors to hang electric <br />signs at the following locations, were granted under super- <br />vision of the Electrical Inspector~ <br /> <br />H. L. Hart <br />SantaAna Valley Hospital <br />Dr. N.D. Cash <br />Sherwin-Williams <br />Fred H. Rice & Son <br />Santa Aha Journal <br />Dawson's Cafe <br /> <br />1404 S. Main St. <br />611 Wellington Ave. <br />1614 S. Main St. <br />311 N. Broadway <br />309 W. 4th St. <br />llVE. 5th St. <br />103 N. Main St. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br /> <br />the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for one latest <br />for the Fire Dept., <br />model one ton truck chassis and cab/n~t to exceed the sum of <br /> <br />~1680.00 exclusive of allowance on one 1923 Reo ~peed Wagon <br />chassis of the Fire Department, according to specifications <br />on file in the City Auditor's office. Bids to be opened <br />June 10th, 1935, at ~:30 o~clock P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />
