Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />July 22nd, 1935. 7:30 P.~. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular adjourned session. <br />Meeting called to order by the Clerk. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees Joseph P. Smith, W. H. Penn, <br /> Ernest H. Layton. <br /> <br /> Absent: Trustees Plummer W. Bruns, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and <br />carried, Trustee Smith was appointed Mayor Pro Tem. <br /> <br /> In Re <br /> <br />Communication <br /> <br />Sam L. Collins. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Communication <br /> <br />Hiram W. Johnson. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Communication <br /> <br />A.D. Wilder--P.W.A.Projects. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Orange County <br /> <br />League of Municipalities. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />W. D. Sansom. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Applications <br /> <br />Taxicab Drivers. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication from Sam L. Collins, Congressman, stating <br />his appreciation of the courtesy extended to attend the dedi- <br />cation of the new City Hall, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the communication from Hiram W. Johnson relative to invita- <br />tion extended on the dedication ceremony of the new City <br />was received and filed. <br /> <br />At this time ~ayor Fred C. Rowland and Trustee Plummet W. <br />Bruns arrived, .Mayor Rowland taking the Chair. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the Chair was authorized to appoint a committee includin~ <br /> <br />the Mayor and City Engin~ er to submit a resume with a list <br /> new <br />of the applications to be filed for/projects under the Public <br /> <br />Works Administration, in accordance with the letter received <br />from A. D. Wilder, Acting State Director.. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the communication of the Orange County League of Municipali- <br />ties with reference to Harbor inspection and dinner meeting <br />to be held at Balboa, Thursday evening, July 25th, 1935, <br />was received and filed and all members urged to attend. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton ~nd carried, <br />the~ application of W. D. Sansom, 502 W. Fifth Street, for <br />the Job as caretaker or Janitor in the new City Hall, was <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, <br />the applications of George E. Lawrence and George Skeen for <br />permission to drive taxicabs, were referred to the Taxicab <br />Commission to investigate and report back. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />on recommendation of the Taxicab Commission the applications <br /> <br />of George E. Lawrence and George Skeen to drive taxicabs were <br />granted. <br /> <br /> <br />
