In Re Civil Service Police & Fire Dept. permission 2o cut the curb on Pine Street in connection with a roadway on its property between Pine and Walnut Street west of Evergreen Street, was granted subject to the approval of the City Engineer. There being no written or oral protests, on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the application of Dr. Horace W. Leecing to construct a one-story medical build- ing at 843 N. Broadway,was referred back to the Planning Commission for recommendation. On recommendation of the Planning Commission and on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the application of Dr. Horace W. Leecing to construct a one-story medical building at 843 N. Broadway, ;vas granted under special uses. There being no written or oral protests, on motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Bruns and carried, the application of Nellie I. Foote to erect an apartment house at 321 W. Tenth Street, was referred back-to the Planning Commission. On recommendation of the Planning Commission and on motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the application Foote to erect an apartment house at 321 W. was granted under special uses. of Nellie I. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the application of The American Brotherhood flor the Blind of 184 Oxford Street, Los Ar~eles, for permission to solicit funds through a flower sale in Santa ;,ua, was denied on recommenda- tion of the standing committee. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton, the following Ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance in relation to and regulating the business of dealing in motor vehicles and providing penalties for the violation hereof" was read, considered, designated Ordinance No. 1029 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Plummet W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. Noes, Trustees None. Absent, Trustees None. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the Mayor was authorized to appoint a committee of three, one of whom to be the City Attorney, to meet with the Police and Fire Departments relative to civil service for said departments. Trustees Smith, Layton and the City Attorney were appointed as the committee.
